Why Are Roofs Triangular? Here's the Answer

You may often find triangular roofs in Indonesia. Either facing forward or sideways. So, do you know what a triangular roof is? Or why is the roof of the house triangular? Here's the explanation. A triangular roof is also commonly referred to as a gable roof and is one of the styles of many roofs.
This classic roof style is easy to find in several parts of the world, including in Indonesia. However, contemporary architecture still uses gable roofs. But usually with some changes in style and material to adapt to the new era.
This roof refers to a triangular space made of two planes that slope in opposite directions. Then meet at the highest point of the roof and taper. Gable roofs work well for people on a budget. The simplicity of the gable roof design means that it does not require as much material as other roof designs.
The tapered shape of the roof allows you to have more space to use as an attic, storage, or additional room. Because of its triangular slope, it allows rain, leaves and other debris to fall from the roof and away from the structure. The slope of the gable roof shape makes it excellent drainage when it rains, snows, and is more weather resistant.
On the other hand, it allows better ventilation in your home. The wind that moves through the ventilation in the gable roof will help your home become cooler. In addition, if you provide windows on the gable roof, it will certainly bring natural lighting from sunlight into the interior space.
Even so, this triangular roof must have a strong supporting structure. Because this type of roof is relatively weak against strong wind pressure.
