New trend in Indonesian buildings: Light steel
Currently, lightweight steel roof frames are becoming a building material that is very trendy in Indonesia. In addition to the many advertisements that offer attractive lightweight steel roof frame products, this is also due to the increasingly rare and expensive wood that is good for use as a roof frame for a building. So lightweight steel roof frame material is the best choice for contractors or owners in building a house. In addition, this lightweight steel roof frame has many advantages in terms of durability, termite and rust resistance, and has better structural strength, is stronger and stiffer than wood construction.
But did you know that the use of lightweight steel frames is relatively new in Indonesia, several developers who use this type of roof frame, have adapted this method from the "cherry blossom country" Japan which has long used lightweight steel roof technology for building construction, from the results of the development of buildings with anti-earthquake technology, considering that the cherry blossom country is a country prone to earthquakes. So this lightweight steel roof frame is also very suitable for use and development in buildings in Indonesia which also has a history of earthquakes like in Japan.
A glimpse of lightweight steel. Light steel is a hard cold-rolled steel that is reprocessed in its atomic and molecular composition, so that it becomes more flexible, high-quality steel but is light and thin, but its strength is not inferior to conventional steel. There are several types of light steel that are grouped based on their tensile strength value. This tensile strength capability is generally based on the final function of the light steel.
For example, for structural products such as light steel roof frames, light steel with high tensile strength (G550) is used. However, for various home appliance products, light steel with lower tensile strength (G300, G250) is needed which is more flexible and soft so that it is easier to shape as desired. Because of the high quality and tensile strength, it is no wonder that light steel is thinner and lighter than conventional steel. G550 steel can be interpreted as steel that has a tensile strength of 550 Mpa (Mega Pascal). This quality test can only be proven in the laboratory.
Although lighter and thinner than conventional steel, with a tensile strength of 550 Mpa, light steel can be relied on to support the load of building structures. For non-structural functions such as roof coverings, G300 quality light steel is used.
What about the thickness of light steel? In general, the thickness ranges from 0.20-2.00 mm on the market. This thickness variation is determined by the function, how much load is supported and the size of the steel span itself. The thickness is smaller than conventional steel with the aim of reducing the load on the building structure.
That's a little additional information that you guys should know why you should and must use a light steel roof frame, in addition to the many advantages mentioned above, the use of a light steel roof frame also adds an elegant and timeless impression.
