This is the meaning of the roof and its function!
The roof is an important part of the house. The roof functions as protection from various kinds of disturbances from outside the house, especially rain and heat. Without a roof, a building cannot be said to be a good residence. This is because the elements of the complete suitability of the house are not fulfilled. If you want to build your house with a good roof, it's a good idea to pay attention to the roof model you will use.
Making a good roof must pay attention to the following conditions:
- The construction must be really strong so that it can withstand its own weight and all the loads that hit it
- The shape is in accordance with the house design concept that was planned from the start
- The covering material chosen must be adapted to the purpose of the building and be resistant to extreme weather
- It is best to design the model to take inspiration from the richness of local cultivation
- The level of slope depends on the type of covering material used
Meanwhile, the material used to cover the roof of the building must be insulating so that it can withstand heat, cold and sound. This material must also be tight against rainwater, impermeable to water, and not change shape due to changes in weather. Apart from that, this roof covering material is also easy to maintain, non-flammable, light in weight, stable in position and long-lasting.
The construction usually used to support the roof is truss frames. Not only does it support the load of the roof, this frame also gives shape to the roof. In principle, a truss type roof frame is made by connecting the supporting rods in such a way as to form an inverted triangle. The need for construction of these trusses varies depending on the weight of the roof and the covering material used. However, one thing is the same, each arrangement of supporting rods must tie together and form a solid unit so that they can work together to carry the load that falls on them without changing.
