The shape of the roof of a common house
The roof is the upper part of a house that serves to protect the inside of the house from rain or sun. The roof consists of two parts, namely the roof truss and roof covering. The roof frame is a construction that is above the ring-balk which consists of truss, jurai and rib construction. The roof frame functions as a place for roof covering and distributes the load from the top of the house down. Roof covering is a material used to cover the roof frame. The roof covering functions as a heat insulator from outside the house into the house and also keeps rainwater from entering the house. As a tropical country, not all types of roofs are suitable for use in Indonesia. There are several forms of roofs that are suitable for Indonesia's tropical climate, including:
Gable Roof
The shape of this roof is triangular in shape. The feature of this roof is that it has a mountain wall to support the construction of the roof frame. This roof is often used because it is fast and material efficient. Another advantage of this roof is that it has a small risk of leaks. Because the slope of the gable roof is sufficient for water to flow smoothly. The drawback of the gable roof shape is the unattractive appearance of the roof.
Limas Roof
Limasan roof is also known as shield roof. This is due to the shape of the roof which resembles a shield. When compared with a gable roof, this pyramid roof can be varied in appearance. So that the appearance of the house with a pyramid roof can be more attractive. However, this pyramid roof shape requires more material and a longer processing time.
Flat Roof
This model roof is usually used for modern home models. Flat roof made of cast concrete. With a flat model roof like this, the roof can be used for drying or for gardening (roof garden). In addition, with this type of roof, if the house is planned to be level, it will make it easier. Because it doesn't need disassembly anymore. However, the use of this roof makes the risk of getting hot in the house quite large. In addition, the construction and maintenance costs are quite high.
