Check Periodically
To prevent leakage, of course you must know the actual condition of your roof. To find out whether a roof needs to be repaired or not, check the roof periodically. A new leak will occur maybe after 3-4 times of heavy rain since the hair cracked. Check the ceiling
In addition to inspection of the roof area, ceiling conditions in the home also need attention. Cement plaster on this part of the ceiling is very vulnerable to leaking. So, if there is damage to the ceiling, it must be repaired immediately. If the ceiling is left damp and occurs continuously, during the rainy season there will be more fatal damage, such as collapsing on the ceiling which certainly costs more to repair, right? To reduce heat absorption and reduce rain damage, use 1-2 mm aluminum foil as a coating between the ceiling and tile.
Pay attention to Tile
Also pay attention to the angle of the tile to maintain the tile's ability to block rainwater. Ceramic tiles require a slope of about 30 degrees, while asbestos needs about 15 degrees. If this is not properly addressed, rainwater with wind may enter through the tile gap.
Installation of bolts or nails on the roof and asbestos tiles must also be considered. Installation of asbestos can not be done using ordinary nails. In the installation of asbestos, use rubber-coated bolts, therefore asbestos must be drilled first. In the tropics, the use of ceramic tiles is highly recommended, because it is more resistant to changes in temperatures high enough in the tropics.
