Here are 3 Ways to Overcome Leaking Roofs
Leaking roofs are a problem that is often experienced by many people. Especially when entering the rainy season, the problem of leakage becomes a troublesome thing. This is an important concern, because it can interfere with the comfort of the home owner.
Besides being able to 'flood' a house, a roof that leaks continuously can also cause damage. Starting from damage to the roof, walls, paint, to wooden furniture such as cabinets or tables. The following ways can be done to solve the problem of leaks on the roof of the house.
1. Find Roof Leaks
If you find that there is a leak in the roof as seen from a water stain on the ceiling, immediately note the location of the leak. Then go outside and look with the binoculars or get closer to the roof to find the location of the leak. Pay attention to whether there are roofs that are cracked or missing, because leaks can occur anywhere and anytime.
2. Replace Damaged or Missing Roofs
If the roof is cracked or damaged, then the simple repairs that must be done are to replace it. To replace a damaged roof, lift the edges around it and carefully remove it. After that, replace it with a new one.
3.Fix Flashing (Zinc)
To repair leaks caused by flashing (zinc) around the roof, simply re-seal the joints using a caulking gun or caulking gun filled with roofing cement. If you see damage to the joints that were previously covered with roofing cement, then apply it again with a new layer using kape.
If you have done these methods but the leak continues, it may mean it's time to call a professional to check the condition of the roof. Because, the repair will not extend the life of the roof that needs to be replaced.
